LINCOLN, Neb. – A 32-year-old church parishioner has been arrested for arson after starting two fires outside of a church on Thursday.

LPD said Serhiy Andriyashyn has been arrested for third-degree arson.

Andriyashyn reportedly started the fires outside the House of Prayer church, located at 1333 Morton Street, around 11 a.m.

One of the fires was set in a dumpster and another in a refrigeration unit on a trailer outside the church.

LPD said the pastor of the church believes Andriyashyn was upset with how marriage counseling was going.

Surveillance footage shows Andriyashyn was the person who started the fires, police said, and he was arrested walking down the middle of N 14th Street a short time after the incident took place.

A can of lighter fluid was also lying on the grass nearby.

Total damage is estimated at $10,000.
