Man arrested in Crete in connection to fatal Omaha shooting

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha Police have made an arrest in a July murder.

Court records said Anthony Sanchez, 20, is charged with first-degree murder, assault and two weapons counts. He's suspected of fatally shooting 23-year-old Franco Gonzalez-Mendez and wounding his brother, Edgar Gonzalez-Mendez.

Off duty officers were at Guaca Maya restaurant on July 15, 2018 when they heard gunshots.

They located two victims who were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Franco Gonzalez-Mendez was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Sanchez was located in Crete and taken to Douglas County Jail.
