LINCOLN, Neb. – A Lincoln man was arrested after refusing to leave his vehicle during a traffic stop, as was his passenger after methamphetamine was found in her purse.

Lincoln Police stopped Gianni Phillips, 20, on Tuesday at 4:11 a.m. for driving under a suspended license.

The officer knew Phillips, identified him as the driver, and confirmed that his license was suspended before initiating the stop, LPD said.

When the officer approached, Phillips climbed into the back of the vehicle and refused to exit. He also tried to convince the officer he was not driving.

Eventually, Phillips exited the vehicle without incident, and was lodged and cited for driving under suspension and failure to comply.

In addition, the passenger in the vehicle, Shelby McCabe, 27, was lodged and cited for possession of a controlled substance after methamphetamine and multiple pipes with residue on them were found in her purse.
