A 26-year-old Lincoln man was arrested for DUI Saturday morning after running off the road and striking a tree.
An LPD accident report says the accident happened at about 1 a.m. Saturday morning between Piedmont Park and S. 56th Street.
According to the report, LPD says the man was traveling on S. Cotner Boulevard when his vehicle veered off the road, went over the curb and then struck and uprooted a tree in a nearby home’s front yard. The vehicle came to a rest after colliding with a retaining wall.
The report says the man told officers he crashed because his SUV’s windshield wipers didn’t work, and he was forced to drive with his head out the window, “Like Ace Ventura.”
The man was taken into custody for DUI, and the report says his BAC was .137.
The crash totaled his vehicle, and caused about $500 in damage to the property.
Nobody was injured.
