Man dies after getting trapped in grain bin

A 72-year-old man has died after getting trapped inside a grain bin in Polk County on Tuesday.

Polk County Sheriff Dwaine Ludwig said rescue crews responded to the scene at 12234 W Road in southern Polk County, north of Gresham. Ludwig says 72-year-old Gary Neujahr became consumed and trapped by the corn inside a grain bin at the location sometime Tuesday morning.

At approximately 10:20 a.m. Neujahr’s body was recovered by rescue crews and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

York Fire and Rescue, Gresham Fire and Rescue, and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
