Update: House fire that killed a Norfolk man was an accident

Norfolk Police have released the name of a man who died in a house fire on January 24.

Police said 64-year-old Robert L. Nelson passed away.

Officials said the fire was an accident and no foul play is suspected.

Authorities said crews were called to the home after a postal carrier saw smoke coming from the house.

The home is located in the 500 Block of Blaine Street just north of Veterans Memorial Field. The estimated damage to the structure is $24,000 and $12,000 for the contents.
