Man loses thousands of dollars in computer scam

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) A Hastings man was scammed out of more than $12,000 in a computer scam.

Police say the man got a phone call saying that a piece of software he had installed on his computer was malfunctioning.

The caller promised the man a refund and asked him to log onto an online banking account.

Over the course of four days between, spanning from Dec. 8-11, $12,800 dollars was taken from the man's bank account.

Hastings police are still investigating.
