Man wanted for hit-and-run arrested for meth possession
A man wanted for hitting a 7-year-old with his vehicle in April was arrested Sunday when he was found to be in possession of meth.
LPD said on April 13, a vehicle struck a 7-year-old female in the crosswalk near 12th and L streets.
The driver, Alexander Sowers, 20, was contacted at the scene by witnesses and asked to wait for police, but instead drove away, according to LPD.
Through witness reports and other information, police were able to identify Sowers, but were unable to track him down, police said.
On Sunday around 10:15 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance call in the 1100 Block of Butler Avenue.
Upon arrival, they learned Sowers and Donald Ellis, 32, got into an argument over narcotics.
Sowers was contacted by police and found to be in possession of suspect methamphetamine, according to authorities.
Sowers was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, leaving the scene of an injury accident, willful reckless driving, and an unrelated arrest warrant
Ellis was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
