LINCOLN, Neb. — The 26-year-old Lincoln man who crashed into a tree and retaining wall after driving with his head out the window "like Ace Ventura" has been charged with driving drunk.

On Thursday, the Lancaster County Attorney's Office officially charged Rocky Dumais with first offense DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, careless driving and driving under suspension for the December 1 accident. He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the Lincoln Police accident report, Dumais was traveling on S. Cotner Boulevard near Piedmont Park at about 1 a.m. when his vehicle veered off the road, went over the curb and then struck and uprooted a tree in a nearby home’s front yard. The vehicle came to a rest after colliding with a retaining wall.

The report says he told officers he crashed because his SUV’s windshield wipers didn’t work, and he was forced to drive with his head out the window, “like Ace Ventura.”

The crash caused about $500 in damage to the home's property, according to LPD's accident report, but nobody was injured in the accident.
