CRETE, Neb. (KOLN) - Crete Police have released more details about the hours between when a young woman was reported missing to later found dead Saturday.
Here is a timeline on Saturday from Crete Police:
11:00AM Ashley Sandoval doesn’t arrive for work. Ashley’s roommate calls her mother stating she is missing
11:20AM Ashley’s mother calls law enforcement
11:54AM Police officers finish speaking with mother (in-person)
12:01PM Officer sees Ashley in the field and calls rescue
According to Steve Hensel, Crete Police Chief, Ashley was believed to have taken residence at the Crete Inn. As officers traveled to the Crete Inn, they spotted her body north of Highway 33 in an open field at 12:01 p.m and called for rescue.
Hensel said they are awaiting autopsy results and continuing to investigate, but they do not believe foul play was involved.
Ashley was a first year student at Nebraska Wesleyan University during the 2017-2018 academic year but a NWU representative said she did not return this year.
Ashley's obituary says she had a twin sister and was a "kind, passionate, generous soul who spent her life helping anyone in need,"
