GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - We are getting close to the start of this year's Nebraska State Fair. This year is the 150th anniversary for the fair and the 10th anniversary for it being in Grand Island.

To celebrate this year, the fair will be bringing in new exhibits, concerts, and expanding on shows from last year. Since big anniversaries mean bigger events, they need more people to help out.

Each year the state fair has between 800 and 1,000 volunteers who put in over 16,000 hours of work. They are now accepting application for people who want to be a part of their team this year.

"Being a part of the fair is something all of our volunteers are proud to say they're a part of," Program And Volunteer Coordinator, Courtney Lierman, said. "Something we've become known for is our strong volunteer base. It's definitely something to be a part of and something exciting. The momentum is moving forward."

People looking to volunteer can fill out an application by clicking on the link to the right or call the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce at 308-382-9210.

The Nebraska State Fair runs August 23 through September 2, 2019 in Grand Island.
