Nebraska State Senator arrested for DUI

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) -- Nebraska State Senator Mike McDonnell offered apologies to his colleagues, constituents and family Thursday after being booked earlier in the morning on suspicion of DUI.

According to Sarpy County jail records, Michael McDonnell was pulled over by a Nebraska State Patrol trooper for failing to stay in his lane.

McDonnell was arrested shortly before 1:00 AM Thursday morning in Sarpy County.

He is now facing four charges: failure to stay in lane, refusal to submit to pretest, refusal to submit to test, and DUI.

Jail records indicate McDonnell is due in court on March 21, 2018.

According to his campaign website, McDonnell is a former Omaha firefighter and served as Omaha fire chief for 6 years.
