New Nebraska license plate strikes resemblance to Michigan sower

LINCOLN, NEB — The recently released design for the new Nebraska license plate has stirred up controversy over the past few weeks, and a recent comparison to another states icon is likely to add fuel to the fire.

The new plate features the “Nebraska Sower,” a statue that sits on top of the State Capital building.

But the sower on the plate also portrays a resemblance to the “Michigan Sower,” which can be seen on the campus of Michigan State University.

The new plates colors, yellow and blue, have also drawn caparisons to Michigan University.

Gov. Pete Ricketts has already approved the new plate, and they are expected to be released in January 2017.
