New lifeline for Sears, future of Lincoln location uncertain

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) -- Sears has been given a new lifeline.

A bankruptcy judge signed off on a $5.2 billion plan from Sears Chairman Eddie Lampert. Lampert is also the biggest shareholder.

The judge's approval means more than 400 stores and 45,000 jobs will be saved.

In December, 10/11 NOW learned the Sears at Gateway Mall will be closing in March.

There is no official word on if the Lincoln location will be saved by the newly announced deal.
