The suspect in a Norfolk shooting will have a preliminary hearing before the end of the month.

25-year-old Jamie Rodriguez appeared in Madison County Court on Tuesday. She is charged with felony assault and a felony weapons charge. Court documents say Rodriguez requested a preliminary hearing and it was scheduled for February 28th.

Judge Donna Taylor adjusted Rodriguez’s bond from 50,000 dollars to 20,000 dollars.

Authorities are accusing Rodriguez of shooting 23-year-old Julian Vasquez-Rodriguez south of Norfolk on February 3rd. Court documents say Vasquez-Rodriguez suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was treated at UNMC in Omaha due to severity of the injury. A witness told police Rodriguez said Vasquez-Rodriguez tried to rape her. Vasquez-Rodriguez is not facing charges.
