Northeast Lincoln home a total loss after lightning strike, fire

LINCOLN, Neb. – A house in northeast Lincoln is a total loss after it caught fire when it was struck by lightning.

Waverly Fire & Rescue, along with crews from Raymond, Southeast, Malcolm and Greenwood, responded to the home near N. 84th Street and Waverly Road at about 4 a.m. Saturday.

Crews said the fire was started by a lightning strike.

A neighbor told 1011 NOW that the house went up in flames and was gone in a matter of minutes, before emergency responders could even get on the scene.

Everyone was able to safely evacuate, but the house is a total loss, officials said.
