Man who assaulted officer officially lodged in jail

LINCOLN, Neb. – A man who assaulted an officer on January 10 has officially been lodged in jail.

Derek Amory, 21, was lodged for obstructing a government operation and third-degree assault on an officer on Tuesday.

Lincoln Police said the officer suffered a broken leg when he was assaulted by Amory.

LPD said they contacted Amory, who appeared to be suicidal and intoxicated, near 48th and Fremont streets on Jan. 10,

Amory was transported to a detox center, and around 3:30 p.m. he said he was sober and ready to be taken to the crisis center.

However, around 4 p.m. he became agitated and fought with officers, breaking one of the officer’s legs.
