HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) A woman injured in a Wednesday car crash just east of Hastings is in critical condition.
The Clay County Sheriff's office said the accident happened around 11:30 Wednesday morning at the intersection of Highway Six and County Road B. That intersection is about five miles east of the Hastings city limits.
The sheriff's office said a west-bound flat-bed truck driven by Marion Cochrane, Jr, 41, Gardner, KS, was stopped on the highway waiting to make a left turn. A late model Ford Fusion driven by Diane Walz, 71, Harvard, ran into the back of the semi. Walz was taken to Mary Lanning hospital in Hastings and later transferred to Bryan West hospital in Lincoln where she was listed in critical condition Thursday afternoon.
Cochrane was uninjured.
The Clay County Sheriff's office said weather was not a factor and said there were no drugs or alcohol involved.
