Police investigating Omaha's first homicide of 2019
Police are investigating the first homicide of the year in Omaha after a man was shot in a home overnight.
Officials say Jacque Holbert, 21, died from his injuries after getting shot while asleep in bed early Sunday morning.
A shooting was reported to police at 1:41 a.m. near 38th Avenue and Burdette Street.
Omaha Police said the home was hit by gunfire, and Holbert was inside one of the bedrooms sleeping when he was hit by the gunfire.
He was taken to Nebraska Medical Center in extremely critical condition where he later died of his injuries.
Police said a vehicle might be involved with the shooting, but they are still investigating.
