Police identify driver who died following crash in north Lincoln

Lincoln Police have identified an 83-year-old man believed to have suffered a medical emergency just before a crash on Tuesday morning.

According to the accident report, Richard Cuddeford, 83, of Lincoln died following the crash at 14th and Irving around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday.

A witness reported Cuddeford's car was swerving as he drove south on 14th Street. The witness saw Cuddeford's car cross the center line and collide head-on with a northbound vehicle.

The driver of the northbound vehicle was able to suddenly stop, but not avoid the crash. The second driver has been identified as Travis Stierlen, 29, of Lincoln. Stierlen was cited for driving under a suspended license.

Cuddeford was found unconscious in his car and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
