North 33rd Street, from Cornhusker Highway (Hwy. 6) south to Madison Avenue, will remain closed for railroad crossing and track work through Tuesday, November 20 due to railroad scheduling needs. Traffic will continue to be detoured to North 48th Street using Cornhusker Highway (Hwy. 6) or Leighton Avenue.

The stretch of road had be scheduled to re-open on November 14th.

The City of Lincoln and BNSF Railroad Company are coordinating projects to improve the safety and reliability of the tracks and the condition and longevity of the crossing. BNSF is upgrading the tracks and replacing concrete panels between the rails. The City will repair the street leading up to the crossing.

Public Works and Utilities appreciates the public’s patience during this project.
