Scotts Bluff County warns against phishing email scam

Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s office warns the public of a phishing email scam going around.

According to Sheriff Mark Overman, this afternoon the agency became aware of various residents receiving an email that appears to be from a valid Scotts Bluff County email address.

The email contains an attachment that may contain malware and it will also ask for a payment of a specific sum of money within the next three days or legal proceedings will commence.

Sheriff Overman warns the public the emails are fraudulent and are not from the county nor do they ask for money over email.
