Controversial strip club has closed its doors

GRAND ISLAND, Neb.-- The owner of a chain of controversial strip clubs has sold two of his properties in Grand Island and Elm Creek.

Shane Harrington owned the Midwest Girls Club in downtown Grand Island and a similar club in Elm Creek.

Harrington confirmed he sold the club, but would not identify the buyer. He said the new owner would no longer be operating a strip club.

He opened the GI club in 2016 after an 18-month battle with Hall County and Grand Island.

After its opening, he started another club in Omaha. Harrington said he decided to sell because his Omaha club was making a lot of money.

Harrington said he also sold the Paradise Club near Elm Creek, but the new owner would continue to operate it as usual.

The club that Harrington owns in Hastings remains open.
