Students with Malcolm High School’s National Honor Society delivered 100 bags of personal items to the Homeless Prevention Center in Lincoln Tuesday afternoon.

It was the school's way of celebrating St. Patrick's Day by giving back.

Student's collected green toiletries—like toothpaste, mouth wash and soap to donate.

Staff members at the center say it couldn't have come at a better time. They say they were almost out of stock on personal items for those in need.

“Everybody was pretty happy,” said Mikayla Brady, a junior at Malcolm High School. “They said it was perfect blessing. Everybody just kind of gives back at the right time, and I guess that was us this time.

Students say they plan to make this event a tradition.

Staff members say the bags were a pleasant surprise, and will be a treat for people in need since the items are new and unused.

“It's a wonderful feeling to know that we can give back,” said Hayley Densberger, a junior at Malcolm High School.
