LINCOLN, Neb. -- A 14-year-old boy is recovering from severe cold exposure after he was found on the service road in front of Burke High School.
Braden Champion and his wife Maria spotted the teen lying alongside the road. His foot was over the curb and he was incapacitated.
The boy was confused for about 10 minutes, but was finally able to tell the Champions he had been wandering alone outside for hours. He couldn't remember how he got there or why he was out alone.
The couple called 911 and the teen was taken to Children's Hospital.
"He couldn't tell us if he fell or if he got hit or anything had happened. He was just kind of dazed and out and was just glad and happy that we actually stopped, that an individual stopped to help him out," Braden Champion said.
He said the teen was lying so close to the road he was surprised the boy wasn't hit and that no one else saw him and stopped.
