Two arrested for drug possession, child abuse

LINCOLN, Neb. – Lincoln Police arrested two people who were in possession of meth, a firearm, pills, pot, and other drug paraphernalia. Their 6-month-old child was also present at the time of the arrest.

LPD said on Tuesday around 9 p.m., the Lincoln Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force served a search warrant at 1733 Sumner Street.

Investigators found .4 grams of meth, a loaded handgun, pills, marijuana, and various paraphernalia in the home, police said.

Later, James Vancura, 41, and Virginia Ryan, 29, were pulled over and arrested for possessing the items. Their 6-month-old child was also with them at the time of the arrest.

Vancura is a felon and was arrested for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a controlled substance, and child abuse.

Ryan was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and child abuse.
