Man killed in Lincoln crash identified

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) -- Lincoln Police have identified a 28-year-old killed in a head-on collision on Monday night.

LPD said Jacob Stewart, of Altoona, Iowa, was killed in the crash near 70th Street and Eldora Lane on Monday.

Rescue crews were called to the intersection of 70th Street and Eldora Lane, between Vine and O streets, around 7:40 p.m.

LPD said Stewart was in a vehicle that was headed north on 70th.

Two people in a southbound SUV were transported to the hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the SUV is from Omaha, while the passenger is from Lincoln.

According to the LPD accident report, a witness said they saw Stewart's vehicle driving northbound on 70th Street when it veered across the center line, striking the SUV.

Stewart was pronounced dead at the scene.

LPD said Stewart was not wearing a seatbelt.
