LINCOLN, Neb. – Students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln got an inside look at the ever changing political landscape.
The College of Journalism and Mass Communications hosted its Media and Politics: President Trump and Journalism forum.
The day consisted of 45-minute talks on topics including Combating Fake News, Getting Back to the Basics of Politics and Who’s a Journalist in the Digital Age.
Speakers from ABC News, Huffington Post and POLITICO were some of those who gave talks.
Steffan Decker was one student in attendance. He said there’s been an effort to delegitimize journalism which has been the biggest watchdog of government corruption.
“I think it’s important for journalists and the public to understand that even if you don’t really appreciate journalism right now, it’s still an important tool,” he said.
The dean for the college says it’s important to teach future journalists the issues in today’s political world.
She also said it’s a critical part to the college and public knowledge.
