O'NEILL, Neb. (NCN) - People in Holt County are being warned about the West Nile virus.
The North Central District Health Department in O'Neill said a mosquito trapped in Holt County has tested positive for the West Nile virus.
Health officials said while it's late in the season, it's still necessary to take proper precautions against mosquito bites.
West Nile generally carries flu-like symptoms and can be especially harmful to children or the elderly.
The mosquito found in Holt County is the 69th found in Nebraska this year.
