What's happening this weekend in Lincoln
Are you looking for something fun to do this weekend in Lincoln? There are a number of events, including a couple of free ones.
Here's some to check out in this week's Friday Fast Facts presented by the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The Avett Brothers will be playing their first Lincoln show in seven years. The Avett Brothers play guitars, banjos and sin, in a five-piece band that blends country, bluegrass, punk, folk and rock 'n' roll into a distinctive mixture that, live, is catchy, deep and never forced.
When: Friday, doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 8 p.m.
Where: Pinewood Bowl
Cost: $49, $69 & $89 (subject to applicable fees)
Lace up your running shoes. This race is approximate one-mile run/walk around the perimeter of the Lincoln Children's Zoo. Parents/Guardians can run/walk with their children.
When: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Lincoln Children's Zoo
Cost: Free, a registration form and waiver must be signed prior to the race
Don't miss the first History Bike Tour of the year. They are celebrating their exhibit featuring John Johnson's historic photographs of Lincoln with a tour of the city his work features. Lincoln Historic Preservation Planner Ed Zimmer will lead the tour, helping participants discovery the history.
When: Saturday- 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Where: Malone Center
Cost: $15 per rider, $10 for History Nebraska Members
Celebrate Fascination of Plants Day by learning about plants and UNL plan science research. Get your gardening questions answered by master gardeners. Enjoy live music, free plant giveaways, plant artwork and more activities.
When: Saturday- 2 to 5 p.m.
Where: Earl G. Maxwell Arboretum
