Woman arrested after setting cars on fire with artillery shell

LINCOLN, Neb. – Officers arrested an 18-year-old woman after she said she accidentally started her car on fire, which then spread to three other cars.

On Tuesday, shortly before midnight, an 18-year-old woman reported she was showing a friend some artillery shells that were in her glove box.

The woman told police she accidentally lit one of the fireworks with her cigarette and started a fire in her vehicle.

The fire quickly spread to two adjacent vehicles, according to police.

LPD said the fire damaged four cars altogether, totaling two.

Megan Chandler, 18, was arrested for criminal mischief.
