Due to enrollment and football participation numbers, Exeter-Milligan was on the brink of having to play 6-man football in 2018. Same goes for Friend. Instead of dropping in classification, the schools decided to form a coop. The joint program is known as EMF (Exeter-Milligan-Friend).
EMF is coached by both Dean Filipi and Jim Pfieffer. The two veteran coaches have more than 50 years of combined experience. Filipi and Pfieffer are sharing head coaching responsibilities this season.
EMF is off to a 4-0 start and will play Osceola-High Plains (also a new coop) on Friday.
Prior to joining forces, Exeter-Milligan and Friend had combined for 30 playoff appearances.
