Donovan Williams received a scholarship offer from Tim Miles to play basketball at Nebraska. He'll play for Fred Hoiberg, instead.
Williams says he's still committed to the Huskers, despite the recent coaching change. The 4-star prospect says he had a good conversation with Hoiberg on Monday.
"I'm more excited than I was before," Williams said. "I'm a kid that always wanted to play at Nebraska. With (Hoiberg) being the head coach, it makes things even easier for me."
Williams admits he was unsure of his college basketball future after the firing of Tim Miles. He kept an open mind and trusted Athletic Director Bill Moos to hire a good coach.
"(Hoiberg) told me that he wants to score a lot," Williams said. "Score the ball, play fast.. make the fans love the team and everything like that."
Williams is ranked among the top 150 players nationally in the 2021 recruiting class. The Lincoln North Star standout averaged 22 points while leading the Navigators to the Class A Semifinals this winter.
