LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska soccer team announced the addition of January 2019 enrollee Emma Marcus on Wednesday.
Marcus, a Winter Springs, Fla., native, joins the Huskers from Winter Springs High School, where she plays under Coach Kurt Oettl. Marcus helped the team to Seminole County Districts in 2015 and 2017. During each of her first three years, she led the team in goals scored, amassing 47 goals and seven assists for her career.
A team captain during her junior season, she captured first-team all-conference honors during her sophomore and junior seasons after claiming second-team accolades as a freshman. She was also named Team MVP as a sophomore and junior.
“Nebraska is where I was born and my family has deep roots in the state and I felt as though I was returning home,” Marcus said. “The coaches, players and staff resemble a family that I can’t wait to be a part of.”
Marcus played club soccer for Florida Kraze Krush under Coaches Mark Hansen and Hue Menzies. Florida Kraze Krush also produced current Husker Niejia Watkins, a redshirt freshman in 2018.
Marcus helped the team to ECNL Nationals in 2018 after making Southern Regionals in 2017. In 2016, Florida Kraze Krush finished fourth at nationals after winning the Southern Regionals title. The team made U.S. Club Regionals in 2015. In 2014, she helped the team to the Southern Regionals quarterfinals en route to winning junior player-of-the-year honors individually.
