LINCOLN, Neb. -- Sophomore guard Glynn Watson Jr. scored a career-high 23 points as the Nebraska basketball team defeated Sacramento State, 83-61, Sunday night in the Huskers' season opener.
Watson and the Huskers overcame a slow start to pull away in the second half. Nebraska led by just three points at the break but outscored the Hornets, 47-28 after halftime.
Senior guard Tai Webster chipped in 20 points for Nebraska while sophomore forwards Ed Morrow and Jack McVeigh scored 15 and 14 points respectively.
Nebraska (1-0) is back in action Tuesday night when the Huskers host University of Mary, a Division II school from Bismarck, North Dakota. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
