What is Foster Care?
Foster Care is a temporary placement of children who have been removed from their biological family, usually because of abuse, neglect, or abandonment, until they can return home. Foster Families are individuals who desire to understand the needs of the children in care, a willingness to parent foster children and support biological parents to increase the chances of reunification.

Why Foster Care Matters...
There is a strong need for foster families that are culturally diverse in Nebraska. Approximately 60% of children in foster care are between 6 and 19 years of age. There were 4,142 Nebraska children in out-of-home or trial home visit placements under the Department of Health and Human ServA study in March 2015, by the Harvard Graduate School of Education, stated of children who, “overcome adversity and end up with…positive life outcomes… [is]the availability of at least one stable, caring, and supportive relationship between a child and an adult caregiver.” ices and/or the Office of Juvenile Probation on 9/30/19.
