Man sentenced for involvement in transporting fentanyl pills across Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - An Arizona man involved in transporting fentanyl pills across Nebraska will spend six years and six months in prison.
Daniel Raymundo Alvillar, 46, was sentenced in federal court for conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. There is no parole in the federal system. After his release from prison, he will begin a three-year term of supervised release.
On Jan. 13, 2023, a Nebraska State trooper pulled over a truck without its front license plate on I-80 in Hamilton County after observing a traffic violation. Jesus Quinones Dominguez was identified as the driver and Alvillar, the passenger.
The trooper searched the truck after he learned that Quinones had a screwdriver in his pocket. Authorities noticed two screws missing from the plastic cover of the tailgate and a heat-sealed bag inside.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, troopers removed the plastic cover and found 11 heat-sealed bags containing blue “M30″ pills. In total, NSP recovered 11.28 pounds of pills, and a forensic lab found they tested positive for fentanyl.
After their arrest, Quinones allegedly told NSP that he was paid $4,000 to drive the drugs to Chicago and was going to split the payment with Alvillar.
Alvillar denied knowing about the drugs but consented to a search of his cell phone. The U.S. Attorney’s Office said authorities found photographs, both stock and taken by phone of small blue “M30” pills – same as the pills being transported - on his phone. The phone reportedly had images of marijuana as well as narcotics discussions involving “weed,” “20 sack,” and “blues” – a reference to M30 pills.
Dominguez is scheduled for trial on Dec. 17.
The case was investigated by the Nebraska State Patrol.
